DATA SCIENCE FOR EUROPE

Ambition

TeraLab is a winner project of the 2012 Big Data call for project of the French « Programme d’Investissement d’Avenir ».
Ambition

The ambition is to accelerate research and innovation in Big Data analytics and to fuel talents for tomorrow’s datajobs.

The project’s mission is to provide research and innovation stakeholders with the technological resources needed to understand the implications of Big Data, develop analytic tools and solutions, and create value.

Such resources represent high investments in equipment, skills and time that can hardly be afforded by companies to scale their experiments.

The partnership of Institut Mines-Télécom and GENES creates the capacity to build a unique environment in Europe, reliable and sovereign. This includes such features as the availability of valuable massive data sets, e.g. INSEE state data, highly secure distant access whenever needed using CASD technology.

Research projects and Big Data innovations can be experimented at full-scale with the support of experts.

In the end, TeraLab is helping companies in all industry sectors to seize the opportunities by understanding better the implications of massive data usage. It is therefore a matter of geopolitical stakes.

The core of the project is based on highly scalable platform and services dedicated to analytics. Forexample, the platform includes infrastructure components, database systems, structured and unstructured data, innovative tools, specific compilers (R , Python, Scala ... ), analytics applications, and web portal

The platform includes several compartments with private, public or industrial corpus of data, protected from unauthorized access by highly secure CASD technology,
